All-in-one mobility solution
Seat:code is a smart-mobility company based in Barcelona part of Volkswagen Mobility Group.
Their main project is Giravolta, a mobility platform that offers an all-in-one solution: vehicle connectivity and IoT technology, white-label mobile apps for employees, a service management portal (back office) and a data analytics dashboard for operators.
I worked as Product designer on the Mobile app and Backoffice.
Multi branded app
Giravolta was a whitelabel app that was then customised to each client. At first, a lot of customisation was done for each client, but as the project evolved we defined a set of rules of what could be customised and what not, improving efficiency and consistency.
We always had to have in mind the multi-tenant nature of the project when developing new features and come with one solution that could adapt to different client needs as they evolve, which added a lot of complexity to the design process.
Design System and design documentation
When I joined Seat:code, designers were working on the different Squads very independently and there was a lack of alignment between the team. Seat:code was rapidly growing and a lot of inconsistencies started to arise.
There was also a lack of Design documentation that lead to people forgetting the rationale behind decisions taken and therefore wasting time trying to get the answers.
I helped to set weekly design meetings where we aligned as a design team, updated the Design System files and created our Design documentation.
This improved unification across all squads and product experience, it established a source of truth that provided a clear vision and context for the whole product team and it was an essential tool to onboard new designers.
